Things To Consider When Shopping Diamond Wedding Bands

Diamond can be selected on the basis of its color, clarity and weight, they are basically available in 14k, and 18k and 24k metal bands (can be of gold, silver or platinum).

When you are looking for a diamond wedding band for you, then you must know the criterions on the basis of which you can purchase a diamond band.

There are many technical things that you need to discover before you go for your final shopping to any store or online purchasing. Generally, people only care about the features like the styling of the band and the setting. However you must check some other features in any diamond to get the best value for your money and to have a quality precious diamond.

Basically, there are 4 primary things that you must consider before buying a diamond wedding band for you. These primary quality checking features are as below:

1. Cut
2. Clarity
3. Color
4. Carat

1. Cut
The cut of a diamond is for giving it a proper shape and the brilliance.

Cut can give various shapes to any diamond and some of the shapes are from basic round, princess, emerald, square, oval, pear, heart or marquise. This is completely your choice to select the best suited cut for the diamond you are going to purchase and this is simply depends on your and yours spouse’s taste and lifestyle. Here prices may vary for different cut of diamonds.

The brilliance is completely a technical issue and it is for defining the way that the diamond has been physically cut to reflect the light. This is done to have more sparkle as possible, so things like the size of the table (the flat top of the diamond) and the depth (the measurement from top to bottom) all affect how the light reflects through the diamond.

A perfect cut diamond is one that has the finest balance between the size of the table and the depth to achieve the best sparkle effect.

2. Clarity
The clarity of your diamond let you know the actual quality of your diamond. This is important for two reasons;

a. A diamond that has flaws that are visible is not as aesthetically pleasing or as valuable as one that is flawless,
b. Contrary to popular belief, diamonds are not indestructible. They are incredibly tough, but can be cracked or even broken if they contain flaws.

A flawless diamond is rare and has a grade of IF or FL. Diamonds that have a lot of inclusions (flaws) have a grade of I1, I2 or I3.

Now as you might imagine, a flawless diamond is incredibly expensive, so for a diamond that has no flaws that are visible to the naked eye and that is reasonably prices, look for a clarity grading of VS2, VS1.

3. Color
Colorless diamonds are graded D-F, near Colorless are graded G-J. The near colorless graded diamonds may have color when placed face down on a sheet of white paper, but appear colorless when they are mounted in your ring - so these are actually great value for money.

4. Carat
The Carat is the weight of the diamond, so directly relates to its size. The bigger the size of diamond, the greater will be the carat and the greater the price.

  1. One of the most important aspects of buying quality diamond jewellery is where you shop. Learn about the carat, colour, clarity, and cut before selecting your diamond jewellery online.
